Job Description
The Partnership Manager, Tax is responsible for providing tax and consulting services to our Pass-Through clients.
Job SummaryProvide tax planning, preparation, and research for Pass-Through businesses, manage client engagements, supervise team staff, and maintain client satisfaction and compliance.
Job Duties- Perform tax planning, preparation, and research for Pass-Through businesses; manage client engagements; supervise and review work of team staff; work closely with clients and internal managers and partners.
- Write books and records for the business; compose written tax advice or responses to IRS inquiries.
- Contribute to client satisfaction by providing timely services and work product.
- Demonstrate understanding of tax concepts and pursue increased tax knowledge.
- Tax Compliance
- Ensure client compliance with authorities while minimizing burden, and ensure firm policies and standards are followed.
- Conduct top-level review of tax returns, resolve issues with client, and involve specialists when appropriate.
- Communicate identified issues in tax accrual reviews with client and Assurance.
- Plan and review the tax process and procedures: budgeting and staffing, monitoring engagement process and time vs budget, timely billing and out-of-scope activity management, and timely collection of A/R.
- Manage client relationships and expectations according to the project; provide timely advice to clients.
- Research
- Identify when research is needed; frame issues clearly; report analysis; apply firm and professional standards; involve firm specialists when appropriate.
- Strategy Development
- Introduce and develop new or improved ideas to enhance client position, firm, or personnel.
- Review studies of tax implications and offer alternative courses of action.
- Identify and leverage lessons learned to improve processes and methods.
- Other duties as required.
- Build and train a team of professionals to serve high net worth clients with timely responses.
- Supervise associates and senior associates on all projects.
- Review work prepared by associates and senior associates and provide review comments.
- Train associates and senior associates on current software tools.
- Act as a career advisor to associates and senior associates.
- Schedule and manage workload of associates and senior associates.
- Provide verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associates.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other relevant field, required.
Skills and Abilities
- Master’s degree in Taxation, preferred.
- Five (5) plus years of public accounting experience in the private client area, including individual, estate, partnership, S‑corporation, trust, and private foundation tax/consulting clients, required.
- CPA certification, required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- N/A.
- Detail oriented.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to effectively delegate work as needed.
- Strong analytical, research and critical thinking skills and decision-making skills.
- Capable of developing and managing a team of tax professionals.
- Capable of effectively developing and maintaining client relationships.
- Executive presence and ability to act as primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions to clients.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with sub‑chapter K of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 as amended.
- Working knowledge of and experience with Targeted Capital Account Agreements.
- 704(b) Capital & Tax Capital account maintenance.
- 704(c) allocations.
- Knowledge of optional basis adjustments under sections 734 & 743.
- Knowledge of section 752 liability allocations.
Individual salaries are determined after consideration of numerous factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
- California: $110,000 – $150,000
- Colorado: $95,000 – $130,000
- Illinois: $105,000 – $130,000
- Maryland: $113,000 – $120,000
- Massachusetts: $120,000 – $130,000
