The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) 1 is an entry‑level RCP. Full‑time or part‑time openings with sign‑on bonuses available. The RCP 1 demonstrates competencies in respiratory assessments and procedures for all patient populations and age groups, performs and interacts as a healthcare professional administering respiratory care procedures in acute care and critical care areas, and focuses on developing critical thinking skills. Under the direction of the Pulmonary Services Leadership team, the RCP 1 provides professional respiratory care to patients in accordance with the hospital’s policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Perform respiratory assessments and procedures for all patient populations and age groups.
- Administer respiratory care procedures in acute care and critical care areas.
- Demonstrate competencies as outlined in the RCP I COT.
- Develop critical thinking skills to support patient care.
- Provide professional respiratory care under the direction of the Pulmonary Services Leadership team.
- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
- Successful completion of all clinical rotations for respiratory therapy program.
- Associate Degree from a CoARC accredited Respiratory Care program required.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
- State of Wisconsin license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner required.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent required.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required within 12 months of hire.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire.
- American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) and Wisconsin Society for Respiratory Care (WSRC) membership preferred.
- Advanced certification with crisis de‑escalation (MANDT), Hospital Haz Mat, or special pathogens preferred.
