Adult Education Navigator - W2 Program
UMOS, Inc. invites a motivated, results‑oriented candidate to join our mission‑driven, customer‑focused organization. The role supports a diverse team of over 1,000 professionals making a positive impact across more than 60 offices in seven states.
Compensation$20.00–$23.50 per hour plus up to $3,000 in incentive pay during the first year.

- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of job center/workforce programs and services
- Provide one‑on‑one sessions explaining eligibility, registration, and timelines
- Develop and maintain a database/binder of internal and external resources; establish a referral system
- Assist in community or in‑house outreach to inform customers of program options and rights
- Assess W‑2 Adults for HSD or equivalency completion track
- Review State of WI eligibility requirements for HSD/GED/HSED with W‑2 Adults
- Support W‑2 Adults in obtaining high school transcripts, if appropriate
- Educate W‑2 Adults on HSD or equivalent completion options and discuss best fit
- Develop a plan for completion of one of the discussed options and subsequent activities necessary to work toward an identified goal, career, or occupation
- Ensure completion of TABE assessment (obtain results, administer, or refer) within prior six months
- Support W‑2 Adults for HSD/GED/HSED preparation by navigating the process
- Assist W‑2 Adults in registering for GED/HSED informational and orientation sessions; coordinate testing vouchers; request HSD through DPI if applicable
- Conduct bi‑weekly check‑ins to gauge progress on GED/HSED and assist as appropriate
- Assess needs and provide appropriate supports (e.g., supplies, quiet study area, transportation assistance)
- Review and counsel on studying/learning best practices
- Enter all necessary participant information into systems (WWP, ECF)
- Assist individuals with Disabilities in accessing job center/workforce program services including specialized equipment
- Exercise excellent customer service skills and professional judgment when addressing barriers and concerns
- Maintain knowledge of educational needs of the culturally and linguistically diverse disadvantaged population
- Bilingual in English and any other language (preferred)
- Must have a car, adequate auto liability insurance, and be able to travel and work irregular hours
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus two years of post‑secondary education in human services or related field (additional work experience can substitute one year of education)
- Minimum two years’ experience in human/social services‑related customer service, counseling, workforce development, or teaching/tutoring (additional education can substitute one year of experience)
- Familiarity with all job center/workforce program functions, eligibility requirements, services, and processes
- Demonstrated ability in Individual Counseling Techniques and Case Management Principles
- Effective oral and written communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
- Knowledge of internal and external community resources
- Proficiency in computer programs and strong organizational skills
- Experience in Adult Basic Education field, including basic math, technical information reading, document composition, group facilitation, and test‑taking strategies
- Knowledge of cultural and linguistic diversity needs in educational settings
- Bilingual in English and any other language (preferred)
- Must have a car, adequate auto liability insurance, and be able to travel and work irregular hours
- Employment with UMOS is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check prior to employment.
