Full-Time Milwaukee, WI. We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist - Liaison who is responsible for assessment of patient/client respiratory equipment needs and the selection, instruction, and troubleshooting of appropriate equipment and/or services provided to meet those needs.

Responsibilities
  • Complies with all applicable company policies, procedures, patient protocols, government regulations, and professional standards respecting patient care.
  • Assesses the needs of the patient/client and selects the best equipment and/or services to meet those needs.
  • Involves the patient/client and/or family, caregiver in the selection process.
  • Instructs patients/clients in the proper use and care of the ordered equipment according to written policies and procedures for that equipment.
  • Communicates with the patient’s/client’s physician about changes in condition or needs and adjusts the Plan of Care/Treatment accordingly.
  • Completes patient/client account paperwork, including Plan of Care/Treatment and assessments; maintains, implements, and updates the patient’s plan of care and records according to Advent Home Medical policy.
  • Acts as a liaison between the company and the patient/client, family, caregiver, physician, and other healthcare agencies and staff involved in the case.
  • Conducts, participates in, and attends educational meetings and seminars for healthcare workers, patients/clients, families, caregivers, physicians, and community members on areas of need.
  • Assists in resolving patient equipment problems of an immediate or emergency nature.
  • Assists with preventive maintenance, required service checks, and patient/environmental assessment of home respiratory equipment during scheduled visits.
  • Monitors respiratory supply levels and places orders to replenish stock as approved by Sr. Warehouse Manager.
  • Assumes on-call responsibilities during non-business hours in accordance with the company’s policy.
  • Develops technical knowledge of the respiratory products/services offered by the company and be prepared to provide information to others upon request.
  • Educates fellow employees on features and benefits of respiratory equipment, including safety features.
  • Participates in educational and professional programs to maintain knowledge and competency in current techniques, professional standards, and DME products and services offered by the company.
  • Maintains professional accountability for one’s own actions, skills, and attitudes.
  • Maintains current licensure in all states where patient care will be provided.
  • Facilitates communication and collaboration between identified referral sources and internal departments.
  • Markets the company in a positive and professional manner.
Position Type and Hours

This is a full-time position with typical working hours of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Hours and shifts may change in accordance with business needs.

Education

Graduate of an accredited respiratory care program. RCP/RRT preferred.

Required Skills & Abilities
  • Two-year hospital-based respiratory care experience preferred.
  • One year’s home care experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge and skill related to respiratory care.
  • Ability to effectively supervise clinical personnel.
  • Ability to recognize the needs and concerns of people to foster constructive working relationships.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge.
  • People-sensitive characteristics with a genuine desire to help others.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Basic understanding of insurance requirements (Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance).
