Human Resources Director at Marcus Hotels & Resorts
We are looking for a seasoned Human Resources professional to provide strategic leadership and oversight for our hotel, the newly branded The Marc Hotel, and its associated dining and reservation facilities. This role reports directly to the General Manager and is a member of the Executive Committee, overseeing HR for approximately 360 associates across the Milwaukee market.
Responsibilities- Oversee all areas of Human Resources administration, including associate relations, recruitment, onboarding, training and development, benefits administration, leave of absence, workers compensation, policy compliance, union relations, culture building, and community involvement.
- Lead labor relationships with two unions covering contract negotiations, compliance, training, and grievances.
- Provide guidance on associate relations issues such as investigations, coaching/counseling, and policy enforcement.
- Recommend, evaluate and support brand training and development programs, staying current on industry trends to recommend enhancements.
- Facilitate annual goal setting, performance reviews, salary increases, and bonus payouts for all eligible associates.
- Develop annual budgets for salaried labor and HR operating expenses, ensuring monthly forecasts are accurate.
- Act as a member of the Executive Committee, collaborating closely with operational departments.
- Develop and advocate high‑potential leaders; champion associate recognition and service excellence programs.
- Ensure compliance with all HR policies, standards, and employment law.
- Oversee compensation practices, benefit plans, leave administration, workers compensation, and safety/security compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
- 10+ years of total HR experience, including talent acquisition, associate relations, training, benefits, etc.
- 5+ years of proven HR leadership experience, preferably in hospitality.
- Strong interpersonal skills for engagement across all levels.
- Budget management experience preferred.
- Familiarity with People Soft (HRIS) and/or Taleo Enterprise (ATS) helpful.
- Previous Hilton brand experience ideal but not required.
- Union experience beneficial.
