What You Will ContributeThe role is responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving technical documentation for the Badger Meter software suite. This ensures all documentation is clear, accurate, user‑friendly, and aligned with technical and business requirements. The specialist collaborates closely with product management, QA, and customer support teams to deliver high‑quality documentation for external audiences.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including user guides, API references, and system architecture descriptions.
- Work with product and marketing teams to ensure documentation aligns with branding, messaging, and localisation standards.
- Collaborate with software development teams to gather technical details and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Standardise and enforce documentation styles, templates, and version‑control practices.
- Manage document repositories and ensure content is properly organised and up‑to‑date.
- Review and edit documentation created by other contributors for consistency and clarity.
- Assist in the creation of online help systems, knowledge bases, internal wikis, and training material.
- Identify opportunities to enhance documentation workflows or tools and contribute to process improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Exceptional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- 3+ years of experience in technical writing or documentation for software products.
- Strong understanding of software development concepts and Agile processes.
- Proficiency with documentation tools such as Word Press, Confluence, Adobe, or similar.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Knowledge of UX principles and content design for digital interfaces.
- Additional familiarity with Agile development processes.
- Analytical thinking and ability to quickly grasp complex systems.
- Strong organisational skills and version‑control discipline.
- Collaborative mindset with cross‑functional communication ability.
- Detail‑oriented with a commitment to clarity, consistency, and quality.
