Competitive Intelligence Analyst

Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is seeking a Competitive Intelligence Analyst to support strategic decision‑making across the firm. The role is ideal for someone with strong research and analytical skills who is passionate about uncovering insights that drive business development, client retention, and growth.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Conduct in‑depth research and analysis on companies, industries, markets, and technologies using a wide range of online tools and databases.
  • Support strategic initiatives by synthesizing research findings into concise, actionable intelligence reports.
  • Collaborate with Business Development, Marketing, Firm & Practice Management, and Leadership to fulfill research requests.
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking to evaluate firm performance and uncover strategic opportunities for differentiation.
  • Maintain current awareness through news alerts to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Assist with the testing and deployment of innovative technology solutions, including AI tools.
  • Stay current on legal industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Support the development of best practices and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
  • Perform additional research and administrative tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements

Knowledge Base & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Library Science, Business, or related field preferred).
  • 3–5 years of experience in a research, competitive intelligence, or information services role (law firm or professional services environment preferred).
  • Familiarity with research tools commonly used in law firms.
  • Basic understanding of legal practice areas in a full‑service firm.

Compensation for this position will range from $65,000 to $98,000, depending on experience and location.
