A major player in the heavy mobile equipment manufacturing industry is seeking a junior Strategic Sourcing Analyst (Buyer) to support its sourcing organization. This growing division has production orders booked out for a year and is led by a manufacturing engineering manager promoted from within, with a culture centered on safety and individual growth. The Analyst will lead data management and quantitative analysis of sourcing activities, working under the direction of the Director of Sourcing and Senior Analysts.
This is not a demand planning position.
- Research and analyze assigned commodities, gathering data in-house to support senior analysts in purchasing decisions
- Develop key performance metrics for various areas of the supply chain and adjust KPIs as process improvements are realized
- Create business flow process diagrams
- Compile and report findings to senior team members
- Lead construction of sourcing tools and processes and validate information for commodities and products
- Work on complex problems requiring analytical tools, data analysis, and recommendations/solutions
- 2+ years' experience in strategic sourcing and commodity management for manufacturing, with a willingness to learn
- Working knowledge of master supplier agreements and cost breakdown methodologies
- Knowledge of ERP systems and reporting tools
- Good analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
- BS in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
- Open to 20% to 30% travel
- Exposure to commodities such as castings, metal fabrication, hydraulics, drive trains, engines, or plastics
- No visa sponsorship is available for this position
- SAP experience preferred
- APICS Certification would be a plus
