Position Overview
Director, Commercial Banking Program – Full Time, Academic Program. The role works closely with the Dean of the College of Business Administration to develop a strategy for the program, establish program fundraising goals, and cultivate relationships with industry leaders, alumni, and donors affiliated with the program. The Director is responsible for ensuring the program is a primary source of undergraduate and graduate academic education for the banking industry.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute strategies to recruit and attract students, ensuring high placement levels and excellent careers for students.
- Fundraise self‑funded program, manage the program budget, forecast, and invoicing; oversee the processing of reimbursements and wire transfers.
- Work with the Faculty Director to keep the curriculum up to date with the banking industry and provide students with relevant tools.
- Lead the program’s advisory board: identify and select external leaders, maintain communication channels, and conduct regular advisory board meetings.
- Manage internship requirements: partner with banks to secure internships and guide students to obtain a minimum of one internship (two preferred).
- Remain current with industry issues, regulatory changes, and communicate regularly with industry leaders and banking associations; build the program’s brand regionally and nationally.
- Serve as a teacher or co‑teacher for one class per academic year, find guest speakers, and partner with the Faculty Director and Finance Chair to hire faculty as needed.
- Supervise administrative staff: hire, manage performance, and develop staff.
- Coordinate and lead external study trips to Chicago, Washington DC, Zurich Switzerland, and other exposure trips.
- Develop and organize annual industry conferences: obtain keynote speakers, coordinate location, advertise, and secure sponsors to fund the events.
- Bachelor of Business Administration or program‑specific specialty.
- Minimum of 8 years of commercial banking or related experience in a managerial capacity responsible for staff and budget.
- Supervisory experience: strategic planning, large project management, strong leadership, relationship building, and communication skills.
- Business development and fundraising experience; undergraduate or graduate teaching experience; curriculum development expertise.
