Bell Ambulance is a progressive, client-oriented company devoted to providing high-quality emergency and non-emergency medical services. Bell Ambulance has been in operation since 1977 and has grown into the largest ambulance service provider in Wisconsin. We are a certified and contracted provider in the City of Milwaukee 911 system, receiving more than 120,000 calls per year across 14 locations in southeastern Milwaukee.
We provide BLS, ALS, and Critical Care services and employ more than 700 people.
The Facilities Manager will oversee an established and expanding program for 14 company properties in SE Wisconsin. Responsibilities include managing the facility maintenance program, supervising the technician team, handling building improvement projects, and planning for future growth. The role serves as project manager and primary contact for all parties involved in renovations of existing buildings and new construction.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Manage the facilities staff to ensure all properties are fully operational for EMS and support staff, providing guidance and feedback.
- Build relationships with internal customers to ensure departmental needs are met and keep them informed when projects affect their departments.
- Collaborate with external contractors for maintenance and projects beyond in-house capabilities, ensuring work meets company standards and stays within budget.
- Verify and approve all invoices and costs related to the department in a timely basis.
- Negotiate and oversee all existing service contracts, reviewing scopes to ensure they remain current for all facilities.
- Maintain the CMMS system to keep accurate service records and fulfill service requests in priority order.
- Inspect facilities and grounds with staff to ensure standards are met regarding appearance, repairs, and regular maintenance; delegate or secure contracted work as needed.
- Coordinate required inspections and maintain up‑to‑date certifications with local municipalities.
- Serve as project manager and main point of contact for repairs, renovations, and new construction, including permit applications and stakeholder walk‑throughs.
- Order essential items as directed to meet interdepartmental needs.
- Negotiate contracts for contracted services focusing on cost‑effectiveness, quality, and scope.
- Develop timelines and initial cost projections for all construction projects for executive review.
- Provide regular construction status updates to stakeholders.
- Respond to maintenance issues 24/7/365, including emergencies during nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Multiple years of experience in facilities management.
- Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, construction) and codes and regulations.
- High level of professionalism, tact, patience, and positive attitude.
- Excellent communication skills at all organizational levels.
- Ability to build rapport with employees and ensure positive interactions.
- Strong analytical skills to absorb information, recommend actions, and present to leadership.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow‑up.
- Ability to work with minimal or no supervision.
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; 5 to 8 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
