Senior Materials Manager

Position Overview

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Supply Chain, the Senior Materials Manager serves as the primary point of coordination and interface within the Industrial Components supply chain and overall operations organizations. The role focuses on managing the supply chain for Belt Drives and Components products and provides comprehensive leadership in planning, inventory, material cost management, strategic sourcing, supplier management, and logistics. The scope includes six production facilities, two warehouses, and a network of domestic and international suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implants, manages, and improves all processes related to the materials department, including sourcing, procurement, material handling, scheduling, inventory management, receiving, shipping, and production scheduling.
  • Manages the value stream’s inventory management & optimization, achieving annual targets for DIO (days inventory outstanding), gross inventory, and net inventory.
  • Sets and manages the inventory strategy, plans for every part, and monitors performance as the subject‑matter expert.
  • Uses ERP knowledge to ensure correct parameters and improves automation of the planning process, including periodic parameter refreshes with playbook methodology.
  • Leads material cost‑saving initiatives for assigned supplier spend, achieving annual material cost out (MCO) targets in coordination with corporate procurement teams.
  • Leads sourcing changes for assigned supplier spend, including risk assessments, supplier selections, and sourcing council presentations.
  • Develops, coordinates, and executes strategic sourcing initiatives under agreed‑upon time frames to improve supply chain performance, supplier performance, and supplier development.
  • Contributes to the SIOP process for material availability, inventory forecast, scenario planning, and implements countermeasures to close gaps in key metrics.
  • Aligns the value chain between suppliers and end customers in all aspects of fit, function, price, and delivery.
  • Improves primary working capital performance, product, raw material, and freight costs while maintaining or increasing quality and delivery.
  • Develops strategic plans, supports objectives, and manages events to ensure attainment of agreed performance.
  • Establishes and owns monthly revenue, inventory, and capacity forecasts and manages distribution warehouse performance, including SKU levels, OTD, and availability metrics.
  • Participates in establishing and deploying standard processes, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance.
  • Provides leadership to planners and buyers, performing managerial responsibilities such as interviewing, hiring, coaching, developing employees, planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required

Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or industrial related field.
  • Minimum of seven to ten years of experience in supply chain, sourcing, and/or material inventory planning, including team leadership and supervisory roles.
Preferred Skills and Certifications
  • Experience with SAP and/or Oracle Planning and Purchasing modules.
  • APICS, CPIM, CPM, ISM, or ASQ Supply Chain Certification.
  • Six Sigma or LEAN certification.
  • Multi‑site leadership experience.
Travel

Some travel required (approximately 25%), including international travel.
