This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing tooling and processes for cold, warm, and hot forming and forging. Key tasks include interpreting blueprints, designing/selecting tooling, developing tooling layouts, and supporting production to meet quality and efficiency standards. Collaboration with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams is essential for continuous improvement and implementing new tools from concept to production.
- Design and develop forming/forging tools (dies, punches, etc.)
- Support manufacturing by selecting and installing appropriate equipment and tooling
- Choose suitable materials for tools and parts
- Analyze and enhance existing forming/forging processes for efficiency and quality
- Maintain detailed records of setups, process changes, and tooling layouts
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability
- Lead projects and ensure timely completion
- Diagnose and resolve equipment issues, including reverse engineering components
- Train operators on manufacturing processes
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
- Strong mechanical engineering knowledge and understanding of material flow (FEA is a plus)
- Knowledge of metal properties and forging processes
- Proficiency in CAD software (Catia preferred, Solid Works a plus)
- Ability to interpret blueprints and GD&T specifications
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience in manufacturing process improvement
- Understanding of quality control principles
- Organized with attention to detail
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines
