- Performs preventive maintenance inspections, service and rebuilds on electrical power distribution equipment such as low and medium voltage circuit breakers, dry and oil type transformers, disconnect switches and relays.
- Is capable of disassembling and reassembling various power systems equipment with guidance from shop manager.
- Is capable of electrically testing power systems equipment with guidance from shop manager.
- Is capable of identifying electrical and mechanical deficiencies while disassembling and reassembling power systems equipment with guidance from shop manager.
- Is capable of operating a wide range of shop tools and test equipment with the shop manager’s guidance/training.
- Thoroughly cleans power systems parts, after disassembly and during the reassembly process.
- Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts to the shop manager during the repair process or while performing on-site inspections.
- Reviews parts in need of replacement or repair with the shop manager during the repair process.
- Identifies and troubleshoots the causes of unexpected breakdowns of power systems equipment working with the shop manager.
- Performs work that is assigned both in shop and on-site quickly and efficiently with an emphasis on performing the work correctly with as little rework as possible. A high level of craftsmanship is required.
- Prepares reports documenting work performed and work required utilizing company prepared test sheets and checklists. Accurate and timely completion of reports is a must. On-site test forms will need to be filled out accurately as the work is performed while at the job site.
- Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
- Coordinates with shop manager to constantly improve repair procedures and techniques.
- Collaborates with shop manager and/or company engineer regarding new parts/products being designed or remanufactured during the repair process with input regarding modifications that will be required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- During some periods of time during the calendar year, a majority of the work you will be assigned will be on-site at the customers plant.
- Employee is expected to possess basic hand tools capable of performing the duties listed, company to supply specialized tools and test equipment as needed.
- Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience, required.
- Must be able to squat, kneel and crawl to service equipment from below – Up to 40% of your shift
- Must be able to bend and twist with torque to service equipment and to reach into awkward areas– Up to 10% of your shift
- Must be able to climb stairs, ladders and or steps to get up onto equipment– Up to 30% of your shift
- Must be able to work below, at, and above shoulder level to maintain equipment– Up to 90% of your shift
- Required to push, pull reach and grasp with hands to use hand tools– Up to 50% of your shift
- Must be able to lift 30-50 pounds individually or up to 100 lbs in a two man lift– Up to 20% of your shift
- Must be able to stand while working on equipment – Up to 90% of your shift
- Must be able to manipulate small/delicate parts with hands – Up to 25% of your shift
