Job SummaryResponsible for machine operation and crew in a light industrial setting. Must manage the machine team to ensure proper and safe operation of assigned equipment. Responsible for quality, output, and meeting production goals. Additionally, fulfills the job duties of a Production Technician 1 and 2 as required.
Key Duties / Responsibilities- Production:
Monitors performance of machine and personnel, ensures goals are met, communicates issues to Supervisor or Production Technician 3 Lead, completes all work assignments, checks in material, prepares pocket set‑ups, moves material offline when no longer needed, applies advanced troubleshooting skills and performs basic maintenance to improve quality and performance, assists crew members. 40% - Crew Leadership / Training:
Organizes crew activities and delegates assignments, performs assigned duties, trains and develops all crew members. 30% - Quality and Waste:
Monitors product quality for correctness, reports errors, monitors print and bundle quality, makes adjustments to correct quality issues, monitors product waste and takes steps to reduce or eliminate spoilage and doubles. 15% - Communication / Record Keeping:
Maintains accurate record keeping (e.g., safety audits, packages per hour, labor hours per thousand) and logs, communicates personnel issues to Supervisor or Production Technician 3 Lead, informs other operators/supervisors of relevant information and communicates to other shifts as necessary. Other duties as assigned. 15%
Education
- High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
Experience
- 3‑5 Years related experience
- Basic computer experience
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Ability to multi‑task
- Ability to line lead or crew lead for one machine
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
- Attention to detail
- Effective communicator (share equipment knowledge, quality and safety concerns)
- Ability to troubleshoot machine problems
- Mathematical skills and advanced skills in production reports
- Basic computer skills; technical skills may vary based on equipment
- Ability and knowledge to operate a pallet jack
- Strong knowledge and understanding of machine and manufacturing operations
- Ability to speak and communicate effectively using English (preferred)

The employee may carry up to 15 lbs., push and pull up to 40 lbs., twist, stand, walk, reach, and grip throughout the shift. Employees may frequently lift up to 15 lbs., squat and kneel. Work occurs in a fast‑paced environment and may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne dust, paper particles, and industrial lift trucks. OSHA noise limits may require hearing protection.
