- Inspect various kinds of equipment for damage and evidence of electrical or mechanical failure and will be able to relay and explain their observations to the lead winder or shop manager.
- Will be able to perform the company specified electrical tests and core loss tests outlined by the company with assistance from the lead winder or shop manager as needed.
- Illustrate and/or document all relevant data specific to the unit’s characteristics. To include all pertinent existing coil, wedge, filler and physical winding dimensions which will be detailed on company data sheets, with assistance from the lead winder or shop manager as needed. Will also include identifying and diagraming the as found winding connection data with assistance from the lead winder or shop manager as needed.
These operations will apply to form coil and random coil windings. - Dismantle and/or strip damaged and burned out windings.
- Prepare all reusable parts for rewind and inspect renewed parts for hidden, structural damage or unusual conditions.
- Will be able to insert form and random wound coils into the rotor or stator core. Will be able to layout and braze the winding connections. Both operations will be performed with limited assistance by the lead winder.
- Will be able to identify and apply proper insulating techniques and/or requirements during rewinding with assistance from the lead winder as needed.
- Test rewound equipment according to standards and document test results.
- Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
- Operate specialized repair and testing equipment.
- Mechanical Knowledge: 2 years (Required)
- Winding Repair: 1 year (Preferred)
- Must be able to squat, kneel and crawl to service equipment from below – Up to 20% of your shift
- Must be able to bend and twist with torque to service equipment and to reach into awkward areas– Up to 30% of your shift
- Must be able to climb stairs, ladders and or steps to get up onto equipment– Up to 5% of your shift
- Must be able to work below, at, and above shoulder level to maintain equipment– Up to 90% of your shift
- Required to push, pull reach and grasp with hands to use hand tools– Up to 50% of your shift
- Must be able to lift 30-50 pounds individually or up to 100 lbs in a two man lift– Up to 50% of your shift
- Must be able to stand while working on equipment – Up to 90% of your shift
- Must be able to manipulate small/delicate parts with hands – Up to 5% of your shift
