Quality Inspector

Duties and Responsibilities

• Examine material or product for defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds.
• Compare product with specifications and/or drawings to ensure completion of assembly.
• Verify dimensions of product or material using a variety gages, instruments and equipment
• Perform needed material inspection as part of the receiving process to include raw material, hardware, castings, etc.
• Reject defective parts, and mark type of defect on parts and/or containers
• Interact with other departments as needed.
• Resolve customer issues with Manufacturing and/or Engineering departments.
• Calibrate equipment and measuring devices as required by calibration system.
• Perform gage and instrument repair as part of the calibration process
• Perform setup and in-process verification of product as needed.
• Provide appropriate quality training and mentoring of personnel in various production areas to ensure clear understanding of the operator’s duties and expectations.
• Assist in the management of both our non-conformance tracking system and breakage system.
• Take a lead role in troubleshooting and problem-solving daily production challenges that occur.
• Take an active role in reviewing existing processes for continuous improvement opportunities, targeting quality and other process waste, and communicate as appropriate
• Identifying and recommending component changes that will result in improved quality, performance, assembly, etc.
• Participate in formal design reviews to provide input based on experiences and knowledge.

• Two-year degree from college or technical school in a technical discipline is highly desirable, 3 – 5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Inspector Certification is desirable, preferably through ASQ
