Job OverviewWe are looking for an experienced Manual Lathes Operator for the 1st shift. Typical hours are 7 am–3 pm; the position is full‑time or part‑time. The role includes studying blueprints, layouts, charts, and routings; setting up and operating a manual lathe to produce precision parts with tight tolerances; and ensuring all components meet specifications using appropriate measuring equipment.
Responsibilities- Read and interpret blueprints, layouts, charts, and routings.
- Determine material requirements and operational sequences.
- Set up and operate a manual lathe to produce precision parts.
- Use micrometers, vernier gauges, height gauges, bore gauges, and other measuring equipment to check tolerances.
- Select suitable tools and inserts according to written specifications and shop mathematics.
- Adjust cutting speeds, depths, feed rates, and tool positioning to match workpiece requirements.
- High school diploma required.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as a manual lathe machinist (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of mathematics: arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and statistics.
- Proficiency in shop mathematics for material and operation calculations.
- Standing 90–100% of the shift (setting up and operating metal‑working machinery).
- Program machinery 0–10% of the shift.
- Sitting 0–10% of the shift.
- Walking 5–15% of the shift.
- Fine hand motor skills 75–100% of the shift.
- Lifting 10–20 lb frequently; 21–50 lb usually; 51+ lb occasionally (lifting equipment available).
