Since 1979, the 120-bed Emergency Lodge, located at 1730 N 7th St. in Milwaukee, has provided emergency shelter to homeless individuals and families with children. This is a part-time, 24 hour/week position with the following second shift hours:

• 3:00PM - 11:00PM Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

The Intake Worker will provide support to the Social Services Director by providing supervision and intake of clients, maintaining security, and providing supportive services in a Christian atmosphere.

• Conduct intake interviews of incoming residents into shelter.
• Assign a proper room and distribute needed bedding and personal items.
• Provide necessary supervision of shelter and residents, assuring that rules and policies are being followed.
• Maintain an awareness of client needs.
• Answer telephone calls, taking messages when appropriate.
• Clean shelter areas as necessary.
• Prepare snacks for shelter residents.
• Oversee lunch and dinner preparations in dining room.
• Review log book and update entries as needed.
• Perform room inspections.
• Distribute medications as needed.
• Supervise volunteers and community service workers, when assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience working with the homeless population desirable.

$15.43 - $19.29 per hour, based on experience.
