This is an excellent opportunity for a Registered Nurse (40 hours/week) at our Water Street Abortion Health Center. As a valuable member of our team, Registered Nurses receive paid training to learn how to deliver clinical care and complete medical administrative tasks.

PPWI’s compensation philosophy is rooted in equity. The Registered Nurse pay starts from $32.35 per hour. Additional $1.50 per hour for bilingual (English/Spanish). Sign‑on bonus available.

Purpose of Position

In accordance with Planned Parenthood of WI policies, protocols, and procedures the Registered Nurse provides clinical care for patients under the direction of PPWI’s Medical Director. The RN provides comprehensive teaching and education, direct nursing care, triage of patients, and participates in the implementation of the patient’s care plan.

  • Clinical skills to operate basic clinic and lab equipment, including scales, ultrasound, Hemo Cue, and blood pressure devices.
  • Ability to read and implement written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage health‑related emergency conditions with independent decision‑making.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills desirable.
  • CPR certifiable.
Education & Experience
  • Must have a current license as a Registered Nurse by the State of Wisconsin.
  • A minimum of one year of nursing experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements

Extensive standing, walking, reaching, frequent sitting, grasping manipulation of equipment, occasional kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, and climbing. Ability to operate medical equipment and lift up to 30 pounds.

Working Conditions

The position is generally performed in a medical office environment but involves frequent interruptions. The noise level is generally low to quiet. The work involves exposure to blood and blood‑borne pathogens and requires OSHA training and protective equipment. Occasional travel statewide, valid driver’s license, transportation, and evening/weekend hours may be necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, and administer individualized health care consistent with PPWI policies.
  • Collect and document patient history and symptoms per PPWI guidelines.
  • Administer and dispense medications based on conditions and symptoms.
  • Monitor patient’s condition and provide appropriate referrals.
  • Develop, implement, and revise care plans reflecting patient diagnosis and treatment standards.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests, vital signs, and procedures such as blood pressure, IV insertions, and ultrasounds.
