Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) with strong experience in Neuro/ENT and Orthopedic surgery to join the SLMC surgical team. The RN OR will scrub and circulate in complex cases, collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia teams, and ensure optimal patient outcomes in a high-volume surgical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Scrub and circulate for surgical procedures in Neuro/ENT, Ortho, General, Plastics, Vascular, GU, GYN, and Robotics (robotics experience preferred; no training provided)
- Independently manage complex surgical cases, including craniotomies, spinal fusions, sinus surgeries, and vascular procedures
- Maintain strict sterile technique and patient safety protocols
- Anticipate the surgeon's needs, manage instrumentation, and ensure the readiness of surgical equipment
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for seamless perioperative care
- Participate in on-call rotation with 30-minute response time (General/Neuro/Ortho)
- ENT: Neck dissections, Sinus surgeries (Stealth Navigation), Cochlear implants, Tonsillectomy
- Ortho & General: Joint, Trauma, Oncology, Plastics, GU, GYN, Laparoscopic, Vascular
- Robotics: Cases available (DaVinci) – strong background preferred
Certifications & Requirements
- Active RN License (Wisconsin or Compact)
- Required:
BLS Certification - Navigation systems experience preferred: Medtronic Stealth (ENT), Medtronic Navigation (Cranial/Spine), Stryker & Synaptive (Cranial)
- Minimum 2 years OR experience
- First-time travelers require additional approval – strong prior experience highly preferred
Scheduling & On-Call
- Day shifts with variable start times (5:30 AM – 7:00 AM)
- On-call required (8-week call schedule):
- End of Shift (EOS) call: 8–10 slots
- Overnight call (10:30 PM – 7:00 AM): 1–2 slots
- Holiday coverage:
Flexible scheduling (4x10s or unpaid holiday if requested) - Response time:
30 minutes
