CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST APNP – Trauma, Acute Care Surgery Unit
Join Froedtert Health as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in our Trauma, Acute Care Surgery Unit.
Location: Milwaukee, WI (Froedtert Hospital)
Job Type: Full‑time, 0.6 FTE (24.00 hours per week) on Shift 1, hybrid schedule.
Job SummaryThe CNS is a licensed registered nurse with graduate preparation (master’s or doctorate) in nursing who provides expert comprehensive nursing care directly to patients, supports professional development, and leads redesign of systems to improve access, quality, and safety. Collaborate with Medical College of Wisconsin physicians to optimize care for the trauma population.
Responsibilities- Clinical practice and patient care in the trauma, acute care surgery unit.
- Program design/development and implementation of population‑based initiatives to enhance patient and family outcomes.
- Consultation, education, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration with the care team.
- Leadership in quality improvement and evidence‑based practice.
- Monitoring patient outcomes for clinical effectiveness and resolving challenging patient care issues.
- Previous experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist preferred.
- Experience working with the trauma or acute surgical population preferred.
- Master’s or DNP in Nursing from a CNS accredited program is required.
- Licensure to practice nursing in Wisconsin and Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) licensure within 1 year.
- Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist required within 1 year.
- American Heart Association BLS or equivalent required within 90 days.
- Effective communication, project management, and subject‑matter expertise in the specialty.
