Job Summary
We are hiring SICU Surgical Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of experience at AAH St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee. The unit has 21 private rooms and provides a rigorous orientation for new graduates.

Hours per week: 36. Shift options: 12‑hour shifts, including overnight; holiday requirement applies.
Sign‑on bonus: $10,000 for full‑time RNs, $5,000 for part‑time candidates (limited time). Pay range: $37.50 – $56.25 per hour.
Major Responsibilities- Engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives.
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
- Monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, mobilize resources, and collaborate with the care team to influence outcomes.
- Uphold and promote a culture of safety.
- Continuously evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes, taking action as needed.
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely per protocols and procedures.
- Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution, fostering collaboration and appropriate delegation.
- Pursue professional development, complete required education, and maintain certifications.
- Adhere to the ANA Code of Ethics and promote interdisciplinary, unbiased patient care.
- Delegate appropriately to RNs, LPNs, and UAPs (e.g., nurse aides, medical assistants).
- Maintain accurate, timely EHR documentation.
- Float to other units, departments, or facilities as needed.
- Demonstrate knowledge to provide age‑specific care and interpret age‑appropriate data.
Job Requirements
Education: Graduate of a Board‑of‑Nursing approved nursing education program.
Certification / Registration / License:
- Basic Life Support (BLS). Additional certifications may be required.
- Active, unrestricted RN license (multi‑state compact or single‑state).
Experience: Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking.
- Time management, prioritization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in operating computer functions (e‑mail, electronic records, digital platforms).
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach, and twist frequently.
- Lift and support up to 35 pounds; push/pull with 30 lbs and perform sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person.
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, & touch for IV insertion and other procedures.
- Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
- Perform physical safety interventions such as restraint and verbal de‑escalation, if needed.
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste, blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases; protective clothing required.
- Respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
- Physical ability testing may be required.
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN).
