About the roleYou will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and under the Center Physician for medical issues.
The Medical Support Specialist must be familiar with plasma collection industry regulations or a manufacturing environment. The role follows guidance provided by Bio Life Medical Affairs and provides center‑level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).
Key responsibilities include:
- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, education on AIDS and self‑exclusion, interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including standing orders and transport to emergency facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical or technical issues.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance.
- Coordinate pandemic response and support investigations per EHS or Medical Affairs.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or nursing program graduate with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $25.00 - $34.38
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short‑term incentives, medical/dental/vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, short‑ and long‑term disability coverage, basic life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, well‑being benefits, up to 80 hours of sick time annually, and new hires accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
