EssentialJob Duties & Responsibilities
- Takes an active role in direct resident assessment and care.
- Supervises and coordinates nursing personnel for direct resident care, adhering to state, federal and corporate guidelines.
- Formulates individualized nursing care plans using the nursing process.
- Assesses each resident shift and implements changes in the course of care as needed.
- Assists the physician on rounds and ensures pertinent information is communicated and orders are taken correctly.
- Participates in training and supervision of nursing personnel.
- Utilizes effective leadership and supervision principles.
- Manages conflict through problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Acts calmly and efficiently in emergency situations.
- Prepares daily assignment of duties, treatments and miscellaneous tasks.
- Identifies potential safety hazards and non‑compliance with corporate guidelines.
- Maintains accurate resident care records and documents pertinent data reflecting the nursing process.
- Attends and participates productively in resident care meetings, staff meetings and in‑services.
- Takes an active role in teaching (formal or informal) to residents, families and staff.
- Dispenses medication and performs treatments per physician’s order and policies.
- Notifies attending physicians and families of significant changes in resident health.
- Ensures residents and families receive high‑quality service in a caring atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
- Performs additional duties as requested.
- Interacts with customers, families, visitors, facility, and corporate personnel.
- Carries out other tasks as requested where hands‑on intervention is required.
- May be required to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, different units and positions, and overtime as facility needs require.
- Must practice good personal hygiene and follow the required dress code.
- Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
- Current valid Registered Nurse license issued in the state where the position is located.
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- Up‑to‑date physical assessment skills and comprehensive knowledge of nursing principles.
- Recent experience in geriatric or rehabilitative nursing and supervisory capacity is preferred.
