Registered Nurse (RN) - Outpatient Oncology, Team/Infusion

Base pay range$34.90/hr - $52.35/hr
Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process to provide ongoing care according to age‑specific and specialty‑specific needs, assess educational needs, and provide teaching and counseling to patients and families.
- Integrate health promotion, preventive care, symptom assessment and management according to the treatment plan.
- Assess social determinants of health, coordinate care to appropriate resources, and assume primary responsibility for caseloads within the specialty area.
- Recognize changes in patient status, prioritize care based on patient needs, and update care plans as needed.
- Communicate with physicians and other providers, confirm and update patient care plans, and provide status updates on a regular basis.
- Administer medications in the infusion center setting, including chemotherapy, biologic therapies, antibiotics, and other IV medications.
- Perform central venous access device management, blood product transfusion, and therapeutic phlebotomy according to guidelines and policies.
- Provide telephone consultation/triage and care coordination to patients, families, and significant others per protocol.
- Maintain accurate clinical and patient records in accordance with system policies and state/federal guidelines.
- Assist in developing and implementing staff orientation and educational activities.
- Follow published policies and procedures, monitoring for changes or additions.
- Take ownership of professional development in the specialty, maintain certifications, attend governance activities, and share knowledge with leaders and team members.
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan and assess data to identify age‑specific patient needs as outlined in department job standards.
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 6 months.
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Card/Certificate within 30 days of hire (preferred upon hire).
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) preferred for oncology departments; CRNI (Certified Registered Nurse Infusion) for non‑chemotherapy infusion settings.
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
- Typically requires 2 years of clinical experience, including experience in a specialty setting.
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments.
- Exceptional organization and communication skills, both oral and written, and strong customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to work with diverse patient populations.
- May be exposed to cytotoxic and hazardous waste, body fluids, and communicable disease; protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
- Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday.
- Must lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, 20 lbs over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs over a reasonable distance; push/pull with 30 lbs of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present.
- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch, with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures.
- Operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
