Description:

This is a Level II Trauma Center. It hosts a Level III NICU and Maternity unit. The facility has a total of 167 beds. The average number of births per month is 120. The maternity unit has 23 dedicated beds. Patient types include all gestational ages. There are no gynecology surgeries. The unit manages antepartum, mother-baby, labor, and delivery cases. Patient ratios are 1:1 during active labor, 1:2 for laboring patients, and 1:3-4 for couplets.

Support staff includes a charge nurse who rarely takes a patient load. There are 2 techs for the entire floor. Nurses are responsible for drawing labs. OB services are available 24/7. Anesthesia is always in-house. A lactation RN is present during the day shift. Charting is done using EPIC, Alaris, and Pyxis systems. Monitors are available at both nurse stations and bedside.

Telemetry services are provided. Scheduling includes every other weekend rotation. Travelers will float to Gyn/mother-baby overflow when necessary. No call is required for this position. Up to 7 days of time off can be approved. Scheduling is done on a 6-week cycle, with schedules issued at least 2 weeks prior to the start date. Scrub colors are designated for procedural purposes.
