Global Power Components is a privately held, growing manufacturer of UL steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures and modular metal enclosures for housing fully equipped electrical distribution and control equipment.

As a result of continued growth, we are looking for a motivated Quality Engineer to join our growing team.

Please note this position is 100% onsite.

Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure product and process quality in our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality systems, root cause analysis, and lean manufacturing principles, with a passion for solving problems and improving performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support quality improvement projects across manufacturing processes to reduce internal defects, supplier defects, customer quality escapes, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for internal and external quality issues.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation, including control plans, inspection instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Engineering, Supply Chain) to ensure quality standards are met throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Perform data analysis on quality metrics and present findings to management with actionable recommendations.
  • Support internal and external audits, including ISO 9001 or other relevant standards as needed.
  • Monitor and improve supplier quality performance through audits and corrective actions as needed.
  • Train and mentor production staff on quality standards, tools and best practices.
  • Travel between 3 sites within a commuting distance of 5 miles.
Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing quality improvement role.
  • Strong knowledge of quality tools such as APQP, FMEA, CTQ, SPC, 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, Pareto, and control charts.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
  • Experience in Sheet Metal Fabrication, Welding, Paint and Electrical/Mechanical Assembly processes is a plus.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (MS Excel, Minitab, or similar);
    Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Epicor) and SharePoint is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Certification (CQE, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt) is a plus.
  • Fluent in English, additional languages like Spanish an advantage.
