Postdoctoral Research Associate in Chemistry
Full‑time postdoctoral appointment in theoretical and computational chemistry/molecular physics supporting the research program of Dr. Dmitri Babikov at Marquette University.
Project OverviewThe project focuses on developing a quantum computing algorithm to model inelastic molecular collisions on present‑day quantum computing hardware such as IBM‑Q and IonQ within a framework of mixed quantum/classical theory of rotationally inelastic scattering. The postdoc will also help develop and deliver an introductory‑level course in quantum computing.
Duties and Responsibilities- Carry out research in theory and code development and the processing of large‑scale simulations using massively parallel computing resources such as NERSC and the Raj cluster at Marquette.
- Conduct research with significant independence, working with and supervising graduate students.
- Provide research summaries and reports and write draft manuscripts.
Skills and Abilities
- Earned Doctorate (or equivalent) in chemistry, physics, or related field.
- Strong background in quantum scattering theory and quantum dynamics simulations.
- Experience with quantum computing and good programming skills.
- Familiarity with mixed quantum/classical theory methods is a plus.
Qualified females, minorities, and veterans are encouraged to apply.
