Position:
Chef - Oversee food preparation, create recipes, and select specials for our "Grab & Go" case. Chefs must:
- Maintain attractive prepared foods displays and support our vision and standards.
- Ensure food quality, quantity, freshness, and presentation meet all City Market standards.
- Maintain high productivity levels and keep kitchen schedules within budget.
- Perform other duties as needed by the cafe.
- Hire and schedule bakery, kitchen, and line staff members.
- Control inventory.
- Create specials and train line prep and line cooks.
- Assist seasonally in bakery and pastry sections.
- Purchase food and stock.
- Train staff on proper food preparation and kitchen safety techniques.
- Uphold company standards.
- Ensure the kitchen is properly cleaned, food is disposed of correctly, and sanitary standards are met.
- Control food costs, waste, and manage employee hours.
- Customer Service:
Being friendly and courteous to encourage repeat business. - Attention to Detail:
Monitoring food standards, costs, and safety. - Leadership:
Leading the back-of-house team, resolving conflicts, and ensuring tasks are completed. - Management
Skills:
Handling costs, pricing, scheduling, and other managerial duties. - Organizational
Skills:
Keeping schedules, shipments, and cleaning organized. - Problem-Solving
Skills:
Addressing employee conflicts, customer issues, and stock errors efficiently. - Communication
Skills:
Clearly conveying standards, instructions, and engaging with customers. - Stamina:
Long hours around hot cooking elements, often on your feet. - Must possess a Food Service Sanitation Certificate.
- Experience:
Required.

Competitive wages ($40,000 - $60,000 yearly, depending on experience and schedule), overtime opportunities, 401K, health insurance, and product discounts.
