Job Responsibilities

Position Summary: SECURITY – RESIDENT MONITOR. Part‑time weekend shifts available. This role monitors and supervises adult male ex‑offenders within a correctional residential setting and in the community, maintains accountability, ensures life safety, security, and sanitation, performs general office duties, and may be reassigned within the Residential Reentry Division.

Available Shifts
  • Saturdays and Sundays 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays and Sundays 4:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
  • Fridays and Saturdays 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
Essential Functions
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Mandatory overtime on all shifts.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, co‑workers, and contractors.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and time pressures.
  • Flexible to work at any facility within the Residential Reentry Division as directed.
  • Supervising clients in the facility (living quarters, recreation room, dining room, visitation, etc.).
  • Instruct residents in the use of facility property.
  • Enforce all house rules governing the residents.
  • Instill good work and personal hygiene habits in residents.
  • Supervise and inspect residents’ assigned house chores.
  • Check all locking devices, alarms, and security equipment.
  • Conduct urine surveillance and administer breathalyzer tests when required.
  • Make the required tours through the building including resident quarters.
  • Initiate counts of residents at irregular and specific intervals.
  • Conduct surveillance checks outside the facility.
  • Prepare reports and documentation such as disciplinary and accident/incidents reports, medical reports, escapes, resident sign‑in/out sheets.
  • Follow policy to make required notifications of incidents and distribution of reports.
  • Monitor and document medication usage.
  • Process receipts for residents’ money turns and follow handling procedures.
  • Motivate residents to follow program expectations using incentives and enforce sanctions when non‑compliance.
  • Maintain accountability of residents, facility control, life safety, environmental safety, and sanitation to protect residents, staff, and community.
  • Attend training sessions and staff meetings as directed.
  • Monitor residents’ activities while in the community.
  • All other duties as directed.
  • Enforce rules of offender supervision.
  • Conduct accountability checks on residents signed out of facility on pass.
  • Assist with new resident intake and orientation.
Job Qualifications (Minimal)

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. One year prior experience in corrections, related security, or social services preferred. Must clear caregiver, background checks, physical exam, and drug screen before hire. Valid driver’s license preferred but not required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, basic computer skills.
  • Effective, positive communication with staff and residents.
  • De‑escalation of crisis situations.
  • Sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and disability issues.
  • Ability to learn evidence‑based best practices and apply to resident interactions.

Works primarily with residents and interacts with staff, probation officers, visitors, family members, employers, and the public.

Working Conditions

Adult correctional halfway house setting operating 24/7 as the primary living environment for this population.

Physical Demands
  • Climb two to three flights of stairs; mobile throughout.
  • Sit for extended periods, walk, stay awake on shift.
  • Evacuate occupants within three minutes during emergencies.
  • Provide First Aid and CPR.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs for inventory packing.
