- Monitoring and supervising adult male ex-offenders within a correctional residential setting and the community.
- This THIRD SHIFT position maintains accountability of ex-offenders at all times and ensures adherence to life safety, security, and sanitation requirements.
- Supervise residents in living quarters, recreation, dining, visitation, and related areas; enforce house rules; and inspect facility and equipment.
- Instruct residents in the use of facility property and supervise and inspect residents’ assigned house chores.
- Check locking devices, alarms, and security equipment; conduct urine surveillance and administer breathalyzer tests when required or deemed necessary.
- Conduct building tours, counts of residents, and surveillance checks inside and outside the facility.
- Prepare reports and documentation such as disciplinary actions, incidents, medical reports, escapes, and sign-in/out sheets; notify appropriate personnel per policy.
- Monitor and document medication usage; manage receipts for resident funds and follow procedures for handling money.
- Motivate residents to follow program expectations using incentives and apply sanctions for non-compliance as needed.
- Maintain accountability of residents, facility control, life safety, environmental safety, and sanitation to protect residents, staff, and the community.
- Attend training sessions and scheduled staff meetings; monitor residents’ activities in the community.
- Perform other duties as directed to carry out the responsibilities of the position and enforce offender supervision rules.
- Assist with new resident intake and orientation.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required. One year of prior work experience in corrections or related security or social service is preferred.
- Must clear caregiver and background checks, physical exam, and drug screen prior to hire.
- Valid driver’s license preferred; insured automobile preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; basic computer skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and positively with staff and residents; de-escalation capability.
- Sensitivity toward cultural, ethnic, and disability issues.
- Experience with CCTV and other security-related equipment preferred.
- Ability to learn evidence-based best practices and apply skills to resident interactions.
Works primarily with residents; also interacts with other staff, probation officers, visitors, family members, employers, and the general public.

Working ConditionsWork is performed in an adult correctional halfway house setting. The facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week as the primary living environment for this population.
Physical DemandsMust be able to climb two to three flights of stairs and be mobile throughout the facility; sit for extended periods, walk, and stay awake during shifts; evacuate occupants in emergencies; provide First Aid and CPR; and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
