Safety & Security Officer – Part Time at Milwaukee Rescue Mission

$21.00/hr – $22.00/hr (based on experience and qualifications)

Central Campus, 830 N 19th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53233

Part‑time (24 hours per week, three days). Tuesday & Thursday: 10:00 am–6:00 pm; one weekend day 6:00 am–2:00 pm (rotating Saturday or Sunday).

• Help ensure the safety and security of staff, guests, visitors, building and property.
• Help ensure staff, guests and visitors understand and follow premise rules and regulations.
• Conduct regular patrols and inspections of the building and grounds to identify and report maintenance concerns, damage, and potential security risks.
• Diligently monitor surveillance cameras throughout shift.
• Encourage a harmonious atmosphere by encouraging peaceful resolutions to conflicts.
• Discern potentially volatile situations and act quickly to de‑escalate and alleviate disruptions.
• Respond to alarms and emergency calls, requesting assistance from emergency personnel for high‑risk situations.
• If necessary, remove or assist in removing any person engaged in suspicious or criminal acts.
• Perform first aid and/or other lifesaving measures if necessary.
• Support various emergency drills per emergency action plans.
• Assist with guest screening and breathalyzer tests at the Central Campus shelters (Safe Harbor & Joy House), as needed.

• High‑school diploma or GED equivalent required; college degree preferred.
• Previous experience in security, social work or other related fields preferred.
• Mature Christian with a servant’s heart able to relate well with others in a diverse population.
• Familiarity with security equipment and practices preferred.
• Ability to remain positive and calm and demonstrate fair, consistent and sound judgment when dealing with problematic behavior or chaotic situations.
• Strong conflict‑resolution skills; able to defuse potentially volatile situations with patience and tact.
• Ability to apply knowledge and experience of health and safety requirements.
• Culturally competent and relational with strong interpersonal communication and mentoring skills.
• Ability and willingness to follow directions, to be flexible, and a team player.
• Computer literacy and ability to navigate industry software.
• Good report writing and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Reliability, dependability and punctuality expected.
• Workplace demeanor consistent with a Christian church environment: civil, respectful, polite, and responsive.
• Agreement with and subscription to MRM Statement of Faith and MRM Statement of Biblical Convictions.
• Committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ evident in personal testimony and conduct.
• Pass pre‑employment background check and drug test.

• Hiring range $20.94‑$22.04 per hour (+ weekend shift differential) based on experience/qualifications.
