Job SummaryThe Village of Shorewood is seeking to fill the position of Utility Operator I.
Under the general direction of the Public Works Director and Utility Superintendent, the position's primary duties include some skilled and all semi-skilled sewer and water work with other assigned public works crew members. Tasks may include but are not limited to, maintaining and repairing sewer and water mains, valves, hydrants, catch basins, and manholes; televising of sewer lines; cleaning of sewers, manholes, and catch basins and the repair of broken and cleaning sewer lines;
meter reading; and collecting water samples.
Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and at least three years of experience in the maintenance and repair of sewer and water distribution systems and facilities; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. The selected candidate must also successfully complete a drug test and physical to show they can perform the physical demands listed in the job description.
An employee in this position must have the ability to obtain a D.N.R. Grade 1-GD Water Operator License within one year of appointment.

Salary range for FY2026: $28.68 to $40.15 per hour.
