Bus Driver

Position Summary

Operate school bus and other vehicles for the purpose of transporting students and staff to and from designated locations while providing professional and safe services.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferably bilingual speaker (Spanish) but not required.
• Ability to analyze a issue, identify options, and implement solutions.
• Ability to communicate and effectively interact with children, their family members, management, and staff members.
• Works well with others, maintaining positive and effective communication with school personnel.
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Two or more years of experience working with children preferred.
• Must have a Commercial Driver's License.
• Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years.
• Clean driving record with no driving under the influence convictions.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

• Provide transportation in accordance with academy policy and procedure as well as local, state and federal laws and regulations.
• Follow designated routes accurately, in accordance with time schedules and stops.
• Conduct safe and orderly loading and unloading of students.
• Maintain order and discipline on the school bus at all times.
• Perform routine operator maintenance including but not limited to: pre/post inspections, sweeping interior, wiping upholstery, cleaning windshields, and reporting equipment defects.
• Operate a school bus or other district vehicles safely at all times.
• Operate vehicles during inclement weather.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Performs duties with exposure to infectious or communicable diseases inherent to care children, and occasional exposure to loud or unpleasant voices due to unpredictable behavior.

• Must have ability to sit 75%, walk/stand 25%, routinely throughout the shift.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must have functional senses/manual dexterity to carry out the job and communicate effectively.
• Must have the ability to deal effectively with the stress of managing emergency/critical situations and multiple tasks.
• Must also be able to react quickly using hands, fingers, or feet and adjust body movements or equipment controls to keep pace with speed changes of moving objects.
