Warehouse Inventory Control Associate - Day Shift

Position Summary
Reports to the Warehouse Manager or Supervisor. Responsible for inventory maintenance and audit functions. Maintain inventory management program including cycle counting, lot code management, product placement for efficient pick path, customer returns, vendor claims, inventory adjustments, audits, recalls, and reporting. This is a working lead position and requires performing the essential functions of the warehouse staff. Expected to be able to perform all aspects of the job as described below, uniquely focused on inventory functions, but may also support other areas of the warehouse operation as needed.

Job Functions
  • Maintain knowledge of systems, processes, and general business activities to execute root‑cause analysis and support hands‑on functions.
  • Utilize labor and warehouse equipment for maximum accuracy and productivity in the most cost‑effective manner.
  • Work and communicate with supervisors and managers to ensure efficient interdepartmental function transitions.
  • Assist with development, implementation, and administration of policies, procedures and controls, including the company food safety program.
  • Promote a safe and efficient work environment for all employees and participate in the Safety Committee.
  • Participate in daily management/supervision of quality systems and ensure employees are following AIB and GDP requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, neat and safe warehouse environment.
  • Maintain all material handling and order processing equipment.
Inventory Responsibilities
  • Administer policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accurate count, lot codes, and dating requirements of all inventories and meet minimum accuracy requirements of Central Pet Distribution and Hills Pet Nutrition.
  • Handle damaged/infested items including cleanup, segregating, logging, and taping bags.
  • Process customer returns and customer shortage reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintain efficient pick path and ergonomic placement of products in the warehouse.
  • Maintain warehouse, zone, bin, and product records in Prelude.
  • Ensure completion of daily Min/Max stock replenishment reports.
  • Set new products and remove discontinued or obsolete products as directed by the Central Pet purchasing team or Hills Pet Nutrition.
Education and Experience
  • Four years of experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
  • One-year previous inventory experience, including cycle counting, lot code management, and pick‑path efficiency.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience working with Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Excellent analytical and planning skills; proactive in preventing reactive problem‑solving.
  • Able to safely operate and become certified in the operation of all warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks and shrink‑wrap machines.
  • Flexible to changing customer or operational demands and able to work overtime on short notice.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, organized and attentive to detail.
  • Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand and walk for long periods.
Working Conditions
  • The warehouse is a non‑climate‑controlled facility; the outside temperature generally reflects the inside temperature with little air circulation. Must be able to work with exposure to dust.
  • Must wear safety glasses, safety vest and other personal protective equipment as required (gloves, safety shoes, etc.).
Position Information
  • Compensation: $19–$23+ per hour depending on experience.
  • Schedule:

    Monday‑Friday, 4:00 am – 12:30 pm.
