Be an energetic, service-oriented team player with a passion for public service. Ledding Library seeks a Library Assistant to join our circulation team. Library Assistants deliver circulation services, assist in library collection maintenance, and maintain a safe and welcoming environment. The role promotes inclusiveness and reports to the library manager.
Shift Schedule – Must be available to work Sundays 10 am‑5 pm, Mondays 11 am‑6 pm, and Wednesdays 10 am‑6 pm.
Responsibilities- Deliver circulation services to the community
- Assist patrons at service desks, over the phone, by email, or off‑site
- Provide information, promote services, and direct visitors to appropriate resources
- Create library accounts, maintain patron records, and process payments
- Maintain confidentiality in line with city, county, and state laws
- Address and problem‑solve patron account issues
- Assist in library collection maintenance
- Accurately shelve and organize materials
- Manage material flow to expedite checkout
- Process and prepare materials for checkout
- Assess billing for damaged and lost items
- Create, print, and search daily, weekly, and monthly reports
- Maintain a safe and welcoming library environment
- Greet visitors and proactively monitor spaces
- Prepare the library for opening and closing
- Maintain and clean items, shelving, and shared spaces
- Additional expectations
- May represent the library on professional committees
- May assist with library programs
- May assist with volunteer training and task preparation

- High school graduate or equivalent
- Experience
- 1 year of customer service experience
- Library experience preferred

Library Assistants work in a library/office setting, interacting regularly and frequently with the public. Tasks include extended shifts at public service desks, moving book crates and carts up to 40 pounds, positioning at various heights, and handling stressful or emotionally heightened situations such as emergencies, behavioral problems, intoxication, and health events.
