Early Childhood Assistant and Camp Teacher

Come work at Portland Waldorf School! We are welcoming applications for a full-time Early Childhood Assistant and Camp Teacher in the 2025-26 school year. This position is an integral part of the school’s Early Childhood and Auxiliary Programs which offer a secure, healthy, and nurturing environment for children with weekly and seasonal rhythms that include circle time, storytelling, creative and active play, and nourishment.

Responsibilities:

· Support Teacher in day-to-day activities of class: engaging groups of children and individuals in painting, coloring, tidying, helping children get dressed, washing, tending to the classroom.

· Supporting children through social interactions during indoor and outdoor play.

· Washing dishes, preparing snacks, stocking supplies.

· General cleaning and tending of the classroom, including: sweeping, vacuuming, dusting.

· Work 16 days of school break camps (Nov 10, 24, 25; Dec 29, 30, 31; Jan 2; Feb 17, 18, 19, 20; Mar 30, 31; Apr 1, 2,
3).

· Work 16 days of In-Service (Aug 18-29; May 22; Jun 12, 15, 16, 17, 18).


Requirements:

· Licensed with Oregon Central Background Registry.

· At least one year assistant teaching in a classroom of young children.

· Loving interest in the care and education of young children.

· Interest in learning about and commitment to teaching out of the foundations of Waldorf Early Childhood Education.

· Ability to engage with children, take direction from a Lead Teacher regarding classroom management, conflict resolution, and day to day responsibilities.

· Good communication skills, reliable, punctual, well-organized, and efficient.

· Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and staff to support the mission of Portland Waldorf School.

· Interest in continued personal and professional development, innovation, and renewal

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an annual salary of $39,952. Benefits offered include health insurance, retirement plan, partial tuition remission, paid time off (12 holidays + 16 vacation days + sick time according to Oregon Sick Leave law), mentoring, and professional development opportunities. Start date is August 18, 2025 through end date of June 30, 2026, with potential for continuing employment the following school year.
