Position SummaryWorking independently and collaboratively with others, this position plays an integral role in executing our mission, philosophy, and commitment to providing high quality products and exceptional customer service to our internal and external customers. EssentialJob Functions
- Plan, implement, and coordinate safety programs using engineering principles and technology to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions, reduce risk, control costs, and ensure compliance throughout all business functions.
- Provide technical expertise to teams to evaluate risks and cost‑effectively resolve health and safety issues, including recommendations from incident investigations, internal and/or regulatory audits.
- Develop and manage EHS programs in support of strategic goals, including creating a culture of injury‑free attitudes, adhering to OSHA guidelines, and developing accident prevention and loss‑control systems.
- Drive improvement and track goal achievement through collection, analysis, and communication of EHS and KPI data in Enablon management system.
- Active involvement in all plant reviews of new equipment installations, product/ingredient introductions, purchasing specifications, and redesigned work processes, working cross‑functionally to ensure employee safety.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, communication, and reporting, including writing EHS policies and procedures, conducting audits, managing program records, and evaluating opportunities for waste reduction.
- Support, manage, and improve EHS programs, maintaining inventories of safety equipment and PPE, managing daily EHS functions, and managing hazard communications, hearing conservation, air quality, and emergency evacuation programs.
- Contribute to a successful work group through positive interactions, active listening, meaningful collaborations, and the constructive exchange of ideas designed to meet or exceed organizational strategic goals.
- Manage accidents/incidents, leading investigations, conducting incident preparedness, and managing workers compensation and Return to Work programs.
- Accountable for developing and monitoring processes and practices necessary for legal and ethical compliance in assigned area.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering or Occupational Safety field required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in Occupational Safety field in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment required. Experience should include effective health and safety program development, implementation, management and oversight; conducting hazard evaluations and investigations; regulatory compliance and incident command systems.
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP) designation preferred. Familiarity with ANSI workplace safety standards preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong oral and written communication skills commensurate with the job tasks and position necessary to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external customers while providing outstanding quality of work and exceptional customer service. Ability to present information in a manner designed to educate or inform other team members and customers in one‑on‑one or group interactions as directed.
- Ability to review, comprehend, interpret, process and evaluate effectively written work instructions and procedures written in English in conjunction with the performance of the essential functions and other assigned job duties.
