Mission

Supervise hourly employees in the safe manufacture of company products, satisfying all quality and productivity requirements in the most cost‑effective manner. This position reports to either a Production Manager II or an Area Manager. Incumbent may be required to work with hazardous waste.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Adherence to process control procedures, operating instructions, and all quality control instructions. Prime responsibility to safely manufacture a quality product with minimal scrap or rework, while meeting customer specifications.
  • Safe manufacture of products, safety supervision, and maintaining a safe work environment, emphasizing accident prevention and ensuring legal requirements and company safety policy are enforced.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise shift operation in accordance with production schedules and requirements of the immediate supervisor in the most effective manner. Maintain awareness of policies and procedures and assure compliance by assigned employees.
  • Ensure target earned hours are attained and budget criteria met or exceeded.
  • Develop, train, and involve employees in maintaining and improving departmental efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, cooperation, and morale.
  • Ensure all employees work safely and are properly trained in all safety procedures, enforcing good housekeeping practices.
  • Maintain employee attendance to meet required production schedules.
  • Resolve grievances, give performance feedback, conduct performance appraisals, and recommend pay increases, transfers, and promotions in accordance with state and federal laws.
  • Interview and hire qualified people in accordance with state and federal laws.
  • Ensure adequate equipment and supplies are available to complete subordinate tasks.
Qualifications
  • High school plus college level courses or equivalent training in manufacturing accounting, mathematics, and statistics. Additional training in motivation, problem solving, and group behavior, or completion of PCC Certificate program. Bachelors in Engineering and/or Business preferred.
  • Two to five years’ experience in related production operations with ability to facilitate team problem solving and communicate orally and in writing.
  • Individuals may have contact with or be required to handle hazardous waste. May be required to complete hazardous waste management training.
