General Statement Of DutiesProvides Basic Life Support, including medical evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of critically ill and injured individuals; responds to emergency rescue situations involving potential loss of life or bodily injury; maintains control, manages, and directs patient care at the scene of pre-hospital emergencies; provides training and instruction to lesser-trained personnel; performs other duties as required.
Essential Functions Of The Job- Provides and directs fast, efficient Basic Life Support to the ill and injured, utilizing all basic skills and techniques, including airway management and AED use.
- Recognizes medical emergencies and makes differential diagnoses.
- Performs critical physical examinations.
- Understands and anticipates pharmacological treatments.
- Handles non-cardiac emergencies with appropriate emergency therapy.
- Addresses medical and emotional needs of victims to reduce mortality and morbidity.
- Manages and directs all first responders at the scene of a medical emergency.
- Ensures quality patient care as per company standards.
- Files standardized reports of patient information for hospital use and billing.
- Maintains communication with hospital physicians for patient care and orders.
- Follows protocols when physicians are unavailable.
- Transports patients to medical facilities.
- Operates emergency vehicles safely under all conditions.
- Cleans and maintains equipment.
- Completes patient and medical information forms.
- Performs technical rescues from varied terrains and circumstances.
- Follows company policies and procedures.
- Cleans and maintains vehicles and living quarters.
- Maintains records of vehicles, supplies, and training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must possess and maintain EMR Licensure.
- CPR certification for Healthcare Providers.
Good knowledge of local streets, addresses, rescue, and medical equipment.
- Ability to perform technical medical skills accurately.
- Handle emotional and medical needs of victims effectively.
- Maintain professionalism and objectivity.
- Learn new rescue and medical techniques.
- Perform mechanical work on rescue and medical equipment.
- Lead and teach other personnel.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Operate emergency vehicles.
- Maintain high standards of academic and practical emergency medicine knowledge, attending ongoing education to maintain certification.
Operate emergency vehicles, move equipment, and assist injured persons across various terrains. Must carry and maintain uniforms and equipment, and carry a pager/radio at all times for immediate notifications. The employer may waive some qualifications if the candidate demonstrates capability.
