Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Med/Surg

Minden Medical Center of Minden, LA is seeking to hire a LPN to work the Full‑time 7A‑7P shift to provide exceptional patient care in the Med/Surg department at our hospital.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) supports the licensed healthcare team members in the provision of patient care to include direct patient care, providing healthcare information to patients/families, and following established plan of care. Works in close collaboration with the RN or a licensed healthcare team member to evaluate the patient's plan of care and progress toward goal attainment. All patient care activities are undertaken with the delegation/supervision of a licensed professional in accordance with MMC standards and licensure regulations.

The LPN selected for this position will support the nursing operations by facilitating patient flow, performing procedures, medication administration and other duties within licensure scope. The LPN reports to the Charge Nurse/RN's and directly reports to the Med/Surg Nurse Manager. This position works in conjunction with other members of nursing service, ancillary services, physicians, patients, and families. And collaborates with various members of the healthcare team to ensure quality of care across the continuum.

Requires the ability to be self‑directed and quality focused. Interpersonal communication skills are a necessary function of this position.

Full‑time, 36/48 Rotation: 36 hours on first week and 48 hours on second week;
Days (7A‑7P)

Our Med/Surg Unit is located on the 3rd floor of our hospital. We have an 18 bed unit. The environment on our unit is fast‑paced, caring, and compassionate. We care for a variety of patients who are being treated for CHF, COPD, pneumonia, dialysis, pediatric illnesses, RSV, asthma, and dehydration. We also treat patients with more specialized conditions such as cardiology, pulmonology, nephrology and hematology/oncology.

Our patients are unique because they have a wide variety of diagnoses, each needing specialized care. One of the perks of working on our Med/Surg Unit is the amazing teamwork shown by all staff members. Our nurses are successful because they have the knowledge, kindness, and desire to make a difference. We orient new nurses to our unit by placing them with a preceptor and tailoring their orientation to their individual needs.

• Current LPN licensure with the Louisiana State LPN Board of Nursing required;
• One year Medical/Surgical experience preferred.
• Certification/Registration: BLS through the American Heart Association required. PALS preferred.

All Med‑Surg staff will be required to float as needed to both Med‑Surg floors.
