Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers to join our incredible team in Minehead.
As a Support Worker, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs. You will support people in their own homes, lone working with 16 people with housework, laundry, shopping, menu planning, preparing meals, supporting them to arrange health appointments and, at times, accompanying them to health appointments.
You will also prompt them to order their medication and remind them to collect it. Everyone enjoys holidays, going to the theatre, cinema, day trips out, and going out in the community. From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.
There is also a sleep-in available where you will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of 63.70 pounds. All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
Important information for applicantsThis position is not suitable for anyone who is looking to obtain sponsorship for a Skilled Worker Visa or currently holds a Skilled Worker Visa and is looking to switch sponsorship to a new employer. This role does not meet the minimum salary threshold required to be sponsored as set by the UKVI.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
- This role requires you to be a driver.
- Full-time: 37.5 hrs
- Part-time: flexible hours based on availability
All our services are 24hr care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life.
Shift Times- Days:
Between 07:00-22:00 - Sleep-ins: 22:00-07:00
