Manager/Senior Co-ordinator of Home-Start West Somerset - with responsibility for the overall management of Home-Start West Somerset and supervision of the staff and volunteer team. Also maintaining a family support caseload/group at a level that is appropriate to the scheme.

Home-Start West Somerset Manager/Senior Coordinator
Hours of work: 28 hours/week (21 hours for management responsibilities and 7 hours for family support)

Responsible for:
All coordinators, other paid employees, volunteers and to provide support and advise the trustees
- To be responsible for maintaining an overview of Home-Start West Somerset and to work with the Trustees towards its further development.
- To work with Trustees to ensure that Home-Start West Somerset meets the strategic and business objectives of the Charity and the needs of the community.
- To ensure the effective day-to-day management of the scheme in accordance with the Home-Start UK Handbook.
- To ensure that Home-Start West Somerset maintains high standards of practice in supporting families.
- To ensure equality of opportunity, fairness and diversity in all aspects of Home-Start West Somerset’s work.
- To ensure good safeguarding practice in all aspects of Home-Start West Somerset’s work.
- To take responsibility for providing leadership and management to the staff, volunteer and Trustee team.
- To be responsible for the day-to-day management of Home-Start West Somerset.
- Reporting to and supporting the Board of Trustees to ensure the strategic management, development and future funding of the scheme.
- Ensuring all Home-Start policies and procedures are implemented and reviewed.
- Ensuring effective administration, monitoring and financial systems are in place.
- Managing the operational work and deploying Home-Start West Somerset’s financial and staffing resources in the most effective way.
- Supporting the Board of Trustees in the recruitment, selection, induction, management and deployment of coordinators and other paid employees, volunteers and Trustees.
- Leading the staff team and ensuring that all employees and volunteers receive effective supervision, direction and opportunities for development.
- Promoting the work of Home-Start West Somerset externally.
- Contributing to and supporting the development of the Home-Start network locally, regionally and nationally.
- To seek funding streams and write funding bids with Trustees.
- Maintain communication with funders, writing reports on outcomes of funding using appropriate methods.
- To set appropriate outcome measures for group and home visiting support and to monitor evaluation data from families and referrers to ensure effective delivery of services.
- To make any changes to the services of Home-Start West Somerset to meet the needs of the community.
- To provide appropriate cost and outcome data to enable strategic decisions on future development.
- To support Trustees when making strategic decisions by providing appropriate analysis of current provision, capacity and need, future needs and future resources.
- Maintaining an overview of all work with families within Home-Start West Somerset.
- Managing own responsibilities for supporting families and volunteers and model good practice in family support for both groups and home visiting.
- Receiving referrals and assessing need.
- Ensuring support to families is of a high standard in accordance with Home-Start’s model, policies and procedures
- To undertake the Strategic Lead role and designated responsibilities to safeguard and promote children’s welfare.
- Ensure Home-Start West Somerset maintains an effective team of volunteers for group and individual home visiting.
- Ensure Home-Start West Somerset’s policies and procedures are fully implemented in all aspects of supervision.
- Ensure that the Home-Start West Somerset training course and refresher training is delivered in full and to a high standard to all prospective volunteers.
