Job SummaryThis position plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and reliability of our customers' vehicles. It is a senior-level role responsible for a broad set of tasks that may include vehicle body repairs, painting, structural work, welding, cabinet making, fabrication, upholstery, electrical harnesses assembly, disassembly, and parts installation. It requires advanced technical skills, leadership capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering top-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities- Vehicle Body Repair: Independently perform complex bodywork and repair tasks on vehicles, including dent repairs, scratch removal, and major structural repairs. Ensure all repairs are completed to the highest quality standards, meeting manufacturer and industry specifications.
- Painting and Refinishing: Independently prepare surfaces for priming/painting by cleaning, guiding coating, sanding, masking, and applying primers. Independently apply paint and clear coat with precision to achieve the desired finish.
- Frame and Structural Repair: Independently diagnose and repair off-frame and structural damage using frame-straightening equipment and advanced techniques. Verify the alignment and structural integrity of repaired vehicles.
- Vehicle Manufacturing, Assembly and Disassembly: Independently perform complex assembly and disassembly tasks on a variety of vehicles, including classic cars, modern automobiles, and specialty vehicles. Mentor the team and document the disassembly process for repair or restoration.
- Parts Replacement and Installation: Independently remove and replace damaged vehicle parts such as panels, fenders, bumpers, and lights. Ensure precise alignment and fitment of new parts and guide the team in this process.
- Rework: Independently perform rework to address defects found during Quality Control and other inspections.
- Parts Storage and Packing: Independently disassemble, identify, tag, pack, and store parts securely to prevent damage or loss. Retrieve parts from storage as needed.
- Sub-Assemblies: Independently assemble and manufacture components including upholstery, vacuum forming, wiring harnesses, switch panels, and other components.
- Refurbishment and Upfit: Independently diagnose and repair ambulances, support vehicles, and other equipment; perform repairs and parts exchanges including engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough quality checks with the Quality Control Department to ensure repairs, refinishing, assembly, and disassembly meet industry standards and client expectations. Address defects promptly and effectively.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with production teams, engineers, and cross-functional departments to address quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
- Team Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members to enhance skills and productivity.
- Resource Assistance: Advise leadership on resource needs, including equipment, tools, materials, and safety supplies to ensure efficient operations.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards. Report safety hazards or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Other Duties: As assigned
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 75 pounds). Manual dexterity for handling tools and equipment. Comfort working in various weather conditions. Standing, bending, climbing and reaching for extended periods.
Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Automotive Trade School or related certifications/degrees preferred.
- Three (3) years of related experience
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
