Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN), under the direction of the Wound Care Center Clinical Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator, primarily provides patient care and handles intake and discharge processes for Wound Care Center patients. The position may also serve as a Case Manager for a group of assigned Wound Care Center patients, as assigned and depending on the center setup.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities
  • Provides patient care to Wound Care Center patients and handles patient intake and discharge processes according to hospital and nursing standards
  • Assist in vein clinic as assigned after Healogics Vein Clinic training completed
  • May serve as Case Manager for a group of patients, including:
    • Performing initial nursing assessment, communicating findings with the assigned physician, assessing wound stage and measurements, documenting care plans, evaluating patient status regarding outcomes, and identifying care situations requiring intervention
    • Participating in quality improvement initiatives, educating patients or caregivers, and serving as a patient advocate in delivery and coordination of care
  • Performs hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) related duties as assigned, after completing Healogics hyperbaric training
  • May perform hyperbaric safety director duties after completing the required Healogics hyperbaric safety director training
  • Collaborates as needed with other healthcare providers, Wound Care Center Providers, the Program Director and Medical Director regarding clinic and patient needs
  • May function as a Documentation Assistant (scribe) in accordance with Healogics policy
  • Performs other duties as required
Required Education, Experience and Credentials
  • Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current RN license in the state of practice – to be maintained throughout employment
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Medical Surgical, Home Health or Wound Care Certification preferred
  • Wound care experience preferred
Required Knowledge,

  • Demonstrated competency in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Organizational, prioritization and time-management skills
  • Basic knowledge of regulatory/accrediting requirements for healthcare organizations
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex terms for lay audiences
  • Customer service and follow-up skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Teaching skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work with others in a team
  • Ability to stay calm in all situations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of computerized nursing systems
Physical Demands
  • Stationary for extended periods (4+ hours) and repetitive motions
  • Moving about, pushing/pulling, reading, bending/stooping, reaching, grasping/h touching
  • Hearing, writing, vision (close, distance, peripheral)
  • Travel as needed (car, airplane)
  • Lifting/moving items up to 20 pounds; up to 75 pounds with assistance
  • Extended computer use (4+ hours)
Work Environment
  • Normal office and patient care environments
  • Exposure to mechanical equipment and hazards (blood borne pathogens, body fluids, chemicals, flammable/explosive gases)

The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $39.88-$50.26 per hour. This range is an estimate based on qualifications, education, experience, geography, and operational needs.
