The Senior Property Accountant will oversee the accounting, reporting, and financial operations for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This role leads month-end processes, ensures accurate and timely financials, supports budgeting and forecasting, and serves as a key partner to cross‑functional teams. The position also provides mentorship to junior staff and contributes to ongoing process improvements.
Worksite LocationThis is a flexible hybrid position in Minneapolis, MN.
Salary$95k - $120k/yr base salary plus annual bonus.

Roles & Responsibilities- Lead monthly and annual close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Prepare and present financial statements and ad‑hoc reporting to leadership.
- Manage property‑level budgeting and forecasting, partnering with operations teams to align assumptions.
- Oversee lease accounting, CAM reconciliations, tenant billing review, and related reporting.
- Monitor cash flow, reserves, distributions, and intercompany activity.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and external reporting requirements.
- Review and mentor work of junior accounting staff; promote best practices and process improvements.
- Collaborate with property management, operations, and asset teams to translate financial insights into actionable decisions.
- Support special projects such as acquisitions, dispositions, capital activity, and system enhancements.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5 - 7+ years of property or real estate accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, lease accounting, and CAM reconciliations.
- Proficiency with real estate accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and ability to work with confidential information.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
- High attention to detail, strong problem‑solving skills, and a continuous improvement orientation.
