Job Description

The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for all cost accounting and closing activities associated with our manufacturing operations, mainly for the Redmond and Brooklyn Park manufacturing sites, as well as other locations as needed. The role includes coordinating and participating in the month-end close process, ensuring the integrity of product costs, supporting project accounting, managing inventory cycle counts and controls, and conducting cost variance analysis.

Job Duties
  • Cultivate an understanding of the manufacturing processes and inform the plant management teams of potential issues.
  • Collaborate with finance team members on the month-end financial closing activities for multiple plants.
  • Coordinate and prepare the annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for both plant locations.
  • Evaluate and assess cost-saving measures suggested by the manufacturing departments.
  • Maintain standard costs across both plants and work with IT to design and implement system modifications.
  • Develop reporting tools, analyze information, and generate reports to support operational counterparts and management.
  • Generate weekly/monthly KPI reports on productivity, scrap, work order variances, PPV, and cycle counts.
  • Analyze cost accounting data and assist with cycle count/physical inventories; maintain internal control documentation and support audit groups.
  • Reconcile sales costs and inventory liability accounts by customer type and division.
  • Review and analyze inventory and margin reports; perform cost analysis and profitability studies.
  • Review and evaluate capital expenditure requests; track CER approvals and closure process.
  • Manage project cost centers; reconcile monthly Oracle project accounting expenses and make necessary entries.
  • Engage in special projects and assist other Finance team members as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting; strong knowledge of cost accounting standards and the ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX.
  • Prior working experience with an ERP system or knowledge of Oracle and Hyperion.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Travel as required.
Preferred
  • CPA or CMA designation.
  • Experience in life sciences or medical device sectors.
  • Project cost accounting expertise.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $77,515.00 - $ per year, plus potential for annual bonus.
