About the Role
We’re seeking a hands‑on Assistant Controller to lead all finance and accounting operations for three locations. This position has no direct reports but will work with onsite accounting teams daily acting as a resource and also be a bridge with the companies ownership group.
This is a great position for someone looking to transition from public accounting who has supported private clients OR someone who has worked for a business (3+ years) that is multi‑entity. Business has been growing consistently over the last three years due to acquisitions and will continue. Position is open due to promotion.
Position SummaryThe Site Controller manages the full spectrum of accounting activities for three locations, ensures adherence to GAAP, prepares and presents financial reports, and drives process efficiency through sound systems and controls. This position plays a pivotal role in budgeting, forecasting, audit readiness, compliance, and financial operations that support scalable growth.
Core Responsibilities- Financial Close & Reporting:
Lead month‑end close; prepare accurate financial statements, cash flow summaries, and performance reports covering sales, earnings, and cash balances. - General Accounting Oversight:
Ensure proper recording within the general ledger; maintain high standards of exactness and conformity to policies and procedures. - AP/AR/Payroll Review and Coordination:
Partner with onsite transactional accounting teams for accurate processing; own related journal entries and reconciliations while safeguarding data integrity. - Budgeting & Forecasting:
Build site budgets; analyze variances; deliver regular and ad hoc financial models to inform decision‑making. - Policy, Controls & Compliance:
Implement and enforce accounting policies and internal controls; arrange and support audits of site accounts. - Specialized Analyses:
Provide targeted analysis across Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cost/Inventory Accounting, Revenue Accounting, and General Accounting. - Systems & Process Improvement:
Plan, standardize, and optimize accounting procedures; drive continuous improvements to reduce costs and enhance information quality. - Work Organization:
Determine procedures, set schedules, and expedite workflow; assign duties and review work for completeness and accuracy. - Stakeholder Partnership:
Build and maintain strong relationships with operations and leadership; deliver clear, actionable insights. - Other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting or Finance. - Experience:
5+ years of accounting experience. - Background as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, or similar role.
- Revenue accounting and inventory experience are a plus (not required).
- Advanced Excel proficiency is essential; exposure to ERP systems helpful.
- Able to operate independently while also coordinating and building rapport with onsite accounting teams, Group Controller and internal stakeholders.
