Position:
Partnership Manager, Tax

BDO USA is seeking a Partnership Manager, Tax to provide tax and consulting services to our Pass‑Through clients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide tax planning, preparation, and research for Pass‑Through businesses.
  • Manage client engagements, supervise and review work of team staff, and collaborate with clients, internal managers, and partners.
  • Write books and records, and compose tax advice or responses to IRS inquiries.
  • Deliver timely services and work products to sustain client satisfaction.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of tax concepts and current developments.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens and upholding firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
  • Conduct top‑level reviews of tax returns, resolve issues with clients, and involve specialists as needed.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to clients and Assurance teams.
  • Plan and review the tax process, including budgeting, staffing, monitoring engagement progress, and managing billing and collections.
  • Build and maintain client relationships and manage expectations throughout the project.
  • Provide prompt advisory support to clients.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Build and train a team of professionals to serve high net worth clients with timely responses.
  • Supervise associates and senior associates on all projects.
  • Review work prepared by associates and senior associates and provide feedback.
  • Train associates and seniors on current software tools.
  • Serve as a career advisor for associates and senior associates.
  • Schedule and manage workload of associates and senior associates.
  • Provide verbal and written performance feedback.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Master’s degree in Taxation preferred.
Experience
  • Five or more years of public accounting experience with private client work (individuals, estates, partnerships, S‑corporations, trusts, and private foundations).
License / Certifications
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
Software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Executive presence as primary client contact for issue presentation and resolution.
  • Advanced knowledge of Subchapter K of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 and subsequent amendments.
  • Working knowledge of Targeted Capital Account Agreements.
  • Expertise in Section 704(b), 704(c), 734, 743, and 752 related allocations.
Salary Ranges
  • California: $110,000 – $150,000
  • Colorado: $95,000 – $130,000
  • Illinois: $105,000 – $130,000
  • Maryland: $113,000 – $120,000
  • Massachusetts: $120,000 – $130,000
  • Minnesota: $90,000 – $120,000
  • New Jersey: $115,000 – $140,000
  • NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $125,000 – $160,000
  • Washington: $95,000 – $125,000
  • Washington DC: $120,000 – $140,000
