Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support a non-profit organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota through a Contract assignment. This position focuses on accurate invoice processing, payment execution, and financial record maintenance to help ensure timely vendor transactions. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, sound judgment in coding expenses, and experience handling high-volume accounts payable activities.

Responsibilities:

- Review and process vendor invoices with accuracy, ensuring charges are assigned to the appropriate accounts and supporting documentation is complete.

- Prepare and issue payments through electronic methods and check runs while adhering to established deadlines and approval procedures.

- Reconcile payable records, investigate discrepancies, and work with internal stakeholders or vendors to resolve outstanding issues promptly.

- Maintain organized accounts payable files and update financial information to support reporting, audits, and month-end activities.

- Verify invoice details, payment terms, and coding to help ensure compliance with organizational policies and accounting standards.

- Communicate with vendors regarding payment status, missing information, and account questions in a clear and timely manner. Requirements - Hands-on experience in accounts payable within a detail-oriented accounting or finance environment.

- Ability to code invoices accurately and assign expenses to the correct general ledger accounts.

- Familiarity with ACH payments, check processing, and standard disbursement procedures.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage a high volume of transactions accurately.

- Proficiency with financial systems and standard business software used for invoice and payment processing.

- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting.
